Bayou's Fried Cabbage


4 slices bacon or 1/2 pound sausage, chopped

1/2 stick of butter

1/4 chicken stock

1 cabbage, cored and chopped

1 diced onion

1 sliced red bell pepper

1 optional carrot sliced julienne style

1-1/2 tablespoon spoon Bayou's Herb & Season Neches River Cabbage Seasoning

2 grated garlic cloves

  1. In a large skillet cook bacon until crispy.

  2. Remove from skillet and discard all but 1 Tablespoon of bacon drippings.

  3. Add the oil to the pan and add onion and chicken stock, reduce liquid by bringing to a boil.

  4. Add the cabbage and Bayou's Herb & Season Neches River Cabbage Seasoning, meat, red pepper, carrot and grated garlic.

  5. Let the cabbage cook until tender, about 20 minutes. Serve with cornbread.
